We are at only 150m distance from the Ionic sea with its beautiful beaches and chrystal clear water and 800 m from the river Asinara and the natural reserve Vendicari where if you are lucky, you can see rare species of birds. You can also visit the Roman ‘Villa Telaro’ with it beautiful mosaics.
Then there is Noto, an extremely pretty Baroque town dating from 700 that is only 5km away and which is listed among the monuments on the world Unesco Heritage list. Its architecture and its beauty historical buildings will surprise you. The town centre is illuminated at night and the main street has been been into pedestrian area so you can for a walk with your children without having to worry about the traffic.
There are lots of lovely bars with chairs and table in the street where you can have a drink, an ice cream or a ‘granita’ and many small restaurants where you can enjoy the typical Sicilian cuisine.
You can also visit Avola , a town which is famous in the whole world for it’s rich red wine called ‘Nero d’Avola. It is about 4 km away.
You can drive to Syracuse on the motorway in 20 minutes. Syracuse is famous for its Greek monuments, Archimede and Dionisio, the Greek theatre where you can see Greek plays performed in May or where you can visit the famous museum Paolo Orsi.
Well worth a visit are the mountain lakes ‘I laghetti della Cava Grande del Cassibile’ which are in Avola Antica, a spectacular natural reserve. To visit the lakes you can go on a day trip.
